Monine Brocco is a local Philadelphia sculptor whose work we discovered recently at Philadelphia's firts annual FaerieCon.The romantic whimsey of her collection made a perfect holiday exhibit for the new, improved Aphrodite Gallery at PASSIONAL. We caught Monine for a few questions to inspire hungry voyeurs who would like to meet the artist and enjoy complimentary food and drink Friday, December 14 as  at the annual PASSIONAL TOYS art sale and Aphrodite Gallery reception from 7-9PM.

What inspires you sexually? Artistically? How does this inspiration manifest itself in your work? 

Intellectual stimuli; witty repartee, I try to make my sculptures flirt with their eyes, with their body language.

How are sex and art related? 

No one can teach you to like what you like. In sex and art you are lead by your instincts. What are "speaks" to you or what "turns you on" Probably comes from the same place.

How does the work you do now compare with the work you did five years ago? Where do you see your work taking you in five years? 

I'm more willing to take a risk. With the internet more interesting materials are available to me. For me, It's all about learned. To make a better wing I taught myself to solder. In five years I hope to learn more interesting techniques and hopefully create a more lifelike sculpture.

How do you define erotic art? What are the most prominent erotic elements in your art? What are the erotic messages in your current collection? 

Erotic art is something that makes me feel. Sometimes it has to do with shock value but mostly it comes down to a look in the eyes, the mouth, the human body is so inspiring to me, both male and female.
